Opportunities at International Centre of Technology (ICT)
Out of Afrika can offer you volunteer opportunities at our college,
International Centre of
Technology (ICT), established in January 2007. ICT offers a wide range of
academic and vocational
training.
ICT's Mission is to provide an innovative international learning environment
that will challenge, inspire and motivate the individual and meet the needs
of business and industry.
We need volunteers from a wide range of professions with or without formal
qualifications who want to make a real difference in the fight against
poverty.
Our aim is to enable people to acquire employable skills for long term self
sufficiency.
We need volunteers to teach/assist in the preparation and implementation of
the courses we offer in: IT, Business Administration, Accounts, Community
Development, Pharmacy, Secretarial, Fire and First Aid Training, Disaster
Management, Vocational Skills and Sports.
Computer Training
Volunteers assist in our programe to train under-privileged people from the
community
surrounding the college in any of the following areas: introduction of
windows, Internet orientation, Ms. Word, Ms. Excel (spread sheet), Ms.
Access, Ms. Power Point, Ms. Front page, Publisher, Adobe Page maker, Corel
Draw, Adobe Photoshop etc.
There will also be some computer hardware training in addition to the
software training, depending on the knowledge and skills of the volunteer.
The target groups of people we focus on training are disadvantaged people
from poor income families who as a result of that have become school drop
outs and unskilled youth.
Vocational Training
Out of Afrika aims to reduce poverty and improve lives with education
through working with
community based organisations as partners.
We provide training in technical skills that equip people with the expertise
to be able to
work and become self-reliant.

Fire Fighting and Disaster Management
We are looking for experienced fire fighters who can volunteer their skills
and expertise to assist with the appropriate level of training to expand
this programme.
We require support in training and training equipment in areas of:
• Fire and Rescue Training
• First Aid
• Disaster Management
• Building a fully equipped fire station and first aid clinic on site

Health Education (HIV/AIDS Education)
Trained and skilled volunteers can assist in raising awareness of HIV/AIDS
through talks,
workshops and seminars held at ICT,local schools and community meetings.
HIV/AIDS talks and seminars issues will include topics on the nature of the
disease, modes of transmission, statistic reports, methods of preventing its
spread, history and symptoms of the disease, promoting voluntary HIV
counseling and testing.
Tree Planting
Volunteers can assist in our tree planting project, planting and caring for
tree seedlings in our nursery as well as assisting with the vegetable
garden.
Sports
Volunteers can participate by teaching football, basketball, volleyball,
table tennis and a variety of other sports.
Volunteers your skills and time
How many times have you watched at TV program and thought" there must be
something I can do to help", "I would like to volunteer in Africa" or "How
could i make a difference to their lives". This is your chance to contribute
to this change in some way. With Out of Afrika, you will find opportunities
