Out
Of Afrika is a registered charity founded in UK in 1995 and a registered
non-governmental organisation in Kenya.
Out of Afrika is a charity that works at grass root level in Kenya, promoting
education to orphans, disadvantaged children and youth.
Every pound that is spent can be seen on the ground. Every donation can be
measured against another brick in a classroom wall or another book in the hand
of a child.
The charity arose from one woman going to Africa on holiday and seeing the
reality of life; deprivation, poverty but the desire to improve their lives and
hope.
Our aim is to improve the lives of people by uplifting them from poverty. It is
not enough to send money to Africa. No one needs to set out the massive problems
that this continent faces. At the end of the day only Africa will work those
out.
In our society, so many of us have benefited from education. We have elevated
ourselves in many ways, economically, socially and physically. But it needs a
seed to make this flourish.
Only by helping people to help themselves can we hope to improve livelihoods,
and encourage long term self-reliance and sustainability. This is the philosophy
of Out of Afrika and we intend to achieve this through education and skills
training; by providing the right skills we aim to empower people and increase
opportunities of employment.
If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, if you teach a man to fish he
will eat for life.
Our website will guide you through all aspects of our work and give you a feel
for our organization, projects in Kenya and mission and vision for the future.

We work with locally based community groups to identify the needs of the
community and establish projects such as:
Child Sponsorship Program
Vocational skills Training
Providing basic school resources
Sending volunteers to share and pass on their skills
Improving school infrastructure
Providing affordable computer equipment
Environmental projects
HIV/AIDS education, guidance/counseling
ICT/development and creating resource centers
We believe that every child has the basic human right of education, health care,
a safe home environment, adequate food and basic necessities.
Education is an investment and the right of every child. By investing in a
childs future
we are making a long term and sustainable
investment in them and that of the country. In the long term educating children
is one way to eradicate poverty. Education will ensure that young people will be
actively engaged in their development and live in a economically, socially
sustaining, safe and healthy environment.
